Situated on the stunning private oasis of Temple Island, the Temple has been beautifully restored providing a sumptuous and exclusive environment in which to entertain your guests. Aside from a wonderful day of dining and entertainment, you and your guests will also enjoy elevated views of the Start of the famous Henley Royal Regatta Course. Temple Island can only be booked exclusively and is perfectly suited for 40 guests.

Temple Island is situated a mile and a half downstream of the picturesque market town of Henley, on one of the most beautiful stretches of the River Thames.

Located amidst rolling water meadows and surrounded by wooded hills, it marks the Start of the famous Henley Royal Regatta Course. The Temple itself is a delightful folly, designed by James Wyatt as a fishing lodge for Fawley Court on the Henley Reach.

What to Wear

The atmosphere is less formal than the Stewards' Enclosure as there is no dress code, although many who attend do enter into the spirit of the Regatta, wearing club blazers and other rowing apparel.

Dress Code & Rules for Stewards' Enclosure Upgrade


Gentlemen are required to wear lounge suits, or jackets or blazers with flannels, together with a tie or cravat.


Ladies are required to wear dresses or skirts with a hemline below the knee. Ladies will not be admitted wearing divided skirts, culottes or trousers of any kind.

Mobile Phones

The use of mobile phones for making or receiving calls is not permitted within the Stewards' Enclosure. 


Those seen making or receiving calls on their mobile phones will be reminded of this ban by Security Guards and Regatta Officials.


If the request to stop is ignored or if the same person is seen to be making or receiving calls for a second time, then the person will be escorted out of the Stewards' Enclosure and their badge will be forfeited.

Travel & Parking at Henley Regatta

Travel & Parking

Henley Royal Regatta attracts thousands of visitors over the 5-day period. The roads approaching Henley will be busy and subject to a one-way system and restrictions during the Regatta. Main approach roads will be reinforced by temporary signage. Please plan your journey carefully and allow extra travelling time or consider choosing public transport options.

Temple Island provides a unique and stunning location for wedding receptions, family parties and corporate functions. Outside of the Regatta period, Temple Island is available for hire from April through to the end of October.

The main Etruscan Room can host up for 40 guests and, with the addition of an elegant marquee, the Island can host up to 120 guests.
