Press Accreditation

Press accreditation applications for Henley Royal Regatta are dealt with by the Regatta's Press Office. Those wishing to apply for accreditation should complete and return the following form to be received at Regatta Headquarters no later than 31st May 2017. The deadline and details for those wishing to apply for accreditation for the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta will be published shortly.

Press Accreditation application form

As demand always exceeds supply, regretfully accreditation cannot be guaranteed. In order to avoid disappointment, applicants are urged to submit their requests as early as possible. Please telephone Regatta Headquarters if your allocation exceeds a total of five accreditations.

Facilities Provided

Regatta Enclosure

Journalists receiving standard press accreditation will normally be issued with Regatta Enclosure Press badges which admit the wearer to the Press Office, the Boat Tent Enclosure and the Regatta Enclosure.

Please note that no category of press accreditation allows access to the Stewards’ Enclosure.

Press Box

Specialist rowing writers will be allowed access to the Press Box which is positioned on the river at the Finish of the Course. Generalist press will only be permitted access to this area on a case by case basis for limited periods each day. Badges issued for the Press Box will also admit the wearer to the Press Office, the Boat Tent Enclosure and the Regatta Enclosure.

Please note that no category of press accreditation allows access to the Stewards’ Enclosure.

Photographers' Boxes

Two photography boxes are provided for the use of specialist rowing photographers and film crews. Access to both boxes is by a ferry provided by the Regatta. Badges issued for the Photographers' Boxes will also admit the wearer to the Press Office, the Boat Tent Enclosure and the Regatta Enclosure.

i) The High-Level Box is positioned on the river, at the Finish, on the opposite side from the Press Box.

ii) The Low-Level Box is positioned on the river, 100 yards short of the Finish, opposite the Stewards' Enclosure.

Please note that no category of press accreditation allows access to the Stewards’ Enclosure.

Press Office

This is positioned inside the Boat Tent Enclosure immediately to the right of the entrance gate. The Press Officer and staff are based in the Press Office which provides writing facilities, press information, racing schedules, telephones, internet access and a bar. The Press Office can be used by all accredited journalists and photographers. Dial-up facilities are no longer available in the Press Office - accredited journalists and photographers will be able to access a secure wireless network. Please make sure you have the necessary hardware, including wireless network cards, before arrival on site as technical support by Press Office staff will be limited to provision of network security keys.

Press Facilities for following races

A limited number of Umpire's Launch Tickets is made available to the press to follow specific races. Ticket requests should be made to a member of the Press Office team. Allocations are made each evening once the Order of Racing for the following day has been circulated. Journalists are warned that possession of an Umpire's Launch Ticket does not guarantee a position being available.

Please note the following

Freelance Journalists and Photographers

Freelance journalists will only be considered for accreditation if their application is accompanied by a letter of support from an established journal or agency. The Regatta reserves the right to refuse an application in order to restrict accreditations, even under these circumstances.

Film and Television Coverage

Accreditation for film or television crews for news access will no longer necessarily be granted without payment of a fee. Organisations producing feature or magazine-type programmes and/or requiring more extensive coverage will, if admitted, be charged an additional facility fee which will be subject to separate negotiation. Such applications must be finalised before 1st June 2017. Deadline for 2018 to be published in due course.

Direct Telephone Lines

Direct telephone lines to the Press Office are installed from Monday 2nd July to Sunday 8th July. These numbers will be confirmed in future correspondence. The Press Office email address is press@hrr.co.uk

Private Telephone Lines

The Regatta does not take responsibility for the installation of private lines to the Press Box or Press Office. Therefore organisations requiring private lines are strongly recommended to make early arrangements with British Telecom, and to check the line is installed a few days before the start of the Regatta.

Dress Code

There is no dress code in those areas of the Regatta where accredited journalists have unrestricted access. However, many members of the media like to dress more formally and thus enter more fully into the spirit of the occasion.

Restrictions Applying to the Stewards' Enclosure

The Stewards’ Enclosure is a private Enclosure for Members and guests. Access is therefore not available to those seeking Press Accreditation. Any member of the press endeavouring to gain access to the Enclosure for journalistic purposes will have their accreditation withdrawn.

Important Notice

Badges and car park labels will not be sent by post. Those who are successful in applying for accreditation will be issued with a pass allowing them to park their cars in the Regatta car parks. This pass enables them to collect their badges in person from the Press Office from 9.00am on Monday 2nd July 2018 onwards.
