All the things you need to know about the racing today at Henley Royal Regatta with Sarah Winckless, Race Umpire, Steward and Olympic medallist
Overview
- 81 Races today
- 9 nations in total at the event; 8 nations racing today
- Conditions
- Course is ‘lively’ this year; not like a sanitised lake
- Number of crews struggled with headwinds yesterday which we are expecting again today
- Because of amount of water of last few weeks the stream is also a factor in steering issues
- Couple of crews that got away with it but struggled and were spoken to
- After their races – often find that as coxes turn to look at their rival, the hands are not dislocated from the shoulders turning and the boat tends to turn towards the middle of the course; more prevalent among crews who are not used to river racing and more used to six lane courses

- Race 64 [PRCC] Proske v Henry – Proske won gold in Tokyo in the Canadian eight and this looks like it might be her retiring event in a single as she began; she is 35
- Race 75 [Stonor] Craig/Grant v Greves/Eddie – reason it is at this time in programme is Katie Greves wanted race late so she can get childcare arranged and Imogen Grant is at lectures all day for her medical degree so race managed to help their schedules.
