Morning Briefing with Jess Eddie – Friday 4 July, 2025
All you need to know about the racing today at Henley Royal Regatta with Jess Eddie, HRR Steward and Olympic silver medalist.
At Henley today we are wall-to-wall with The Diamonds and the single scullers, with lots of Olympians in action. Here are my races to watch out for today:
9. 9.45 Princess Royal 760 L.R. Henry v 756 C. De Kok, NED
Lauren Henry kickstarts her campaign; she is one of the fastest in the world at the moment, a European champion. She will come up against De Kok, but look out for Lauren, she’s one of my ones to watch today.
17. 10.35 Prince Philip 296 Shiplake College v 295 Saugatuck R.C., USA
Shiplake won the National Schools’ Regatta, and they are one of the fastest women’s eights in the country at the moment. They will come up against the might of Saugatuck from the USA. It’s going to be a real showdown. Let’s see who wins and gets through to the weekend showdown.
46. 3.00 PE 244 Eton College v 267 St Paul's School
Have St Paul's found any extra speed since the National Schools’ Regatta? We will have to wait and see. Eton look very strong this week and I’m predicting an absolute classic today at Henley.
70 6.20 Diamonds 743 L.C.N Ullrich, NZL v 730 Ntouskos, GRE
Ullrich won in Lucerne last week at the World Rowing Cup against the Olympic Champion from Tokyo. Can the Kiwi claim victory over the Greek today?
83 7.40 Diamonds 723 F.J Hamill, NZL v 744 S. Van Dorp, NED
Hamill vs Van Dorp, New Zealand v Netherlands. A really exciting day in The Diamond Challenge Sculls in terms of Olympians. Who will come out on top?
