Stewards' Meeting December 2020

At the December General Meeting of the Stewards held on 8th December, a number of amendments were made to the Qualification and General Rules for 2021.

The name of the new event for women’s club eights will be The Wargrave Challenge Cup. The new trophy for junior women is yet to be named and therefore will be raced as The Junior Women’s Eights for the 2021 Regatta.

It has also been decided that there will be no requirement for the racing weights of competitors to be registered on the Entry Form and that apart from coxswains, competitors will not be required to weigh in.  The weights of rowers and coxswains will therefore no longer be published in the programme of racing.

Sir Steve Redgrave, Chairman of the Regatta’s Committee of Management, said:

It has been an unprecedented year for the Regatta with the first cancellation in our history outside wartime. The Stewards and the Committee of Management are keeping a close eye on developments in the Covid situation, both in the UK and elsewhere, and are planning to deliver a Regatta as close as possible to normal, subject to any restrictions necessitated by the pandemic. We are all looking forward to the start of a new chapter for the Regatta with three new events taking place for the first time, and six days of competition. The Committee will be making detailed decisions about the staging of the Regatta in the coming months and will update Members, competitors and supporters in a timely manner.

I would like, as ever, to thank the Members of the Stewards' Enclosure for their support and patience as we plan for the 2021 Regatta.”
