Following tonight's review of the forecast hot weather, Henley Royal Regatta has, out of an abundance of caution, revised the timetable for the Qualifying Races on Friday 26 June.
Racing will now commence at 6.30pm on Friday evening, with the remainder of the qualifying programme to be completed on Saturday morning, starting at 9am. This adjustment has been made in order to ensure that racing takes place during the cooler parts of the day. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and reflects evolving conditions since yesterday’s meeting, following a reassessment in line with the most up-to-date information available.
The safety and welfare of competitors, staff and volunteers is of paramount importance, and this decision has been taken on medical and safety advice and is in line with governing-body guidance. Conditions across the site and on the water are being monitored continuously and appropriate welfare measures will remain in place throughout the coming days.
We ask all crews, coaches and officials to check their race times carefully and to follow the hot-weather guidance issued.
As a result of the revised Qualifying Races timetable, the Draw will be delayed and will now take place later on Saturday afternoon, with further details to follow.
