Today’s racing highlights at Henley Royal Regatta with Olympic Champion and HRR Steward Moe Sbihi.
Race 6. 11:20, The Danesfield Challenge Cup. 485 Leander Club v 491 Molesey Boat ClubThis is the first time that this final is being raced at the Regatta, as one of the three new events for this year. The winners will be written into the history books. I would love to see Molesey Boat Club cross the line first, but I have a suspicion that Leander Club will pip them.
Race 14. 12:40, The Prince Philip Challenge Trophy. 324 Shiplake College v 314 Headington School
This will be a repeat of the best final from 2025; these schoolgirl eights are rowing so well. It takes a lot for the same crews to be in the final two years in a row; let’s hope that they give us another three feet verdict race.
Race 21. 3:00, The Temple Challenge Cup. 199 University of Washington v 127 Cambridge University ‘A’
University of Washington have had a stunning season domestically, and they are looking to cap it off with a win. But Cambridge University equally have had a good year, winning The Boat Race for the fourth time consecutively. Rob Baker has created a brilliant squad. Who is going to win? I suspect this to be a really close race with maybe the University of Washington just edging it, but I could also sit here and say the same for Cambridge.
