Morning briefing with Moe Sbihi - Friday, 3 July 2026

Today’s racing highlights at Henley Royal Regatta with Olympic Champion and HRR Steward, Moe Sbihi.

Race 10. 9:45, The Stonor Challenge Trophy. 800 E.S. Dabinett & O.A. Cuffe, USA v 801 B.C. Francis & L.J. Spoors, New Zealand

This race will see the return of the Olympic Champions Brooke Francis and Lucy Spoors, going up against a crew from the University of Iowa, USA, that is made up of Emma Dabinett and Orla Cuffe. It’s exciting to see these two famous New Zealand mothers coming back from a short break after becoming Olympic Champions at Paris 2024. Henley Royal Regatta is part of their journey back into the sport.

Race 34. 11:45, The Prince Philip Challenge Trophy. 328 St. Edward's School v 324 Shiplake College

Shiplake College won the National Schools’ Regatta by coming through the field. St. Edward's School led the race to the first half, so this will be a fascinating matchup; almost a semi final or a final ahead of Saturday or Sunday. In last year’s final, Shiplake College lost out on a really exciting race against Headington School. Can they convert and go one step closer to winning?

Race 57. 3:30, The Temple Challenge Cup. 130 D.S.R.V. Laga 'A', the Netherlands v 119 A.S.R. Nereus 'A', the Netherlands

Two Dutch crews going head to head. They will know each other well, racing each other in their own national regattas. This is two crews from institutions that have such great pedigree in the sport of rowing. We can expect this to be a really tight race all the way to the end.
