Stewards' Enclosure

Situated on the Berkshire bank, opposite the Finish Line, the Stewards' Enclosure is reserved for Members and their Guests only. 

Within the Enclosure, racing can be viewed from the Members' Grandstand (reserved seating), the Fawley Grandstand (unreserved seating) and the Floater (Members only).

Children from the age of ten are welcome in the Stewards' Enclosure. Children under the age of ten can enjoy the event from the Regatta Enclosure.

To become a Member, applicants must be supported by two existing members. Currently the waiting list is between six and ten years. To request an application form, click here.

Regatta Headquarters is closed on Thursday 27th June 2019. From Friday 28th June, Regatta Headquarters is open on the Regatta site 10.00 am to 4.00 pm daily, except on Sunday 30th June when it is closed.

During Regatta

From the Badge Office on the Regatta site situated at the entrance to the Stewards’ Enclosure. The Office opens half an hour prior to the start of racing. Subject to availability.

Dress Code & Rules

Gentlemen

Gentlemen are required to wear lounge suits, or jackets or blazers with flannels, together with a tie or cravat. No one will be admitted to the Stewards' Enclosure wearing shorts or jeans. 

Ladies

Ladies are required to wear dresses or skirts with a hemline below the knee. Ladies will not be admitted wearing divided skirts, culottes or trousers of any kind.

 

Whilst not a requirement, it is customary for ladies to wear hats.

Mobile Phones

The use of mobile phones for making or receiving calls is not permitted within the Stewards' Enclosure. 

 

Those seen making or receiving calls on their mobile phones will be reminded of this ban by Security Guards and Regatta Officials. They will be asked to stop and a note will be taken of their Badge Number. This will allow the responsible Member to be identified.

 

If the request to stop is ignored or if the same person is seen to be making or receiving calls for a second time, then the person will be escorted out of the Stewards' Enclosure and their badge will be forfeited.

Members are reminded to bring the dress code and mobile phones policy to the attention of their Guests, in order to avoid the possibility of embarrassment of a Guest being refused admission or being escorted out of the Enclosure.

Please note, children are required to adhere to the dress code and rules.

Bags and Security

Members and Guests are reminded that there are extensive search procedures, and an increased security presence throughout the site and the surrounding area.  As a result, it will take slightly longer to access the Car Parks and Enclosures, so please allow additional time.

For security reasons, large bags and other property may not be brought into the Stewards’ Enclosure.  The Left Luggage Tent, where property can be deposited (subject to availability of space), can be found outside the Main Entrance to the Stewards’ Enclosure.  We regret this facility is not available to Regatta Enclosure visitors.

The Regatta’s security team operates a search policy, including checks of bags at all entrances and prior to being deposited in the Left Luggage Tent.  It would assist us if you could present any bags ready for inspection at the Enclosure Entrance, and have your admission badge clearly visible so it can be checked.

Your cooperation with the security team, who are on duty throughout the site, is appreciated.

Opening times

The Enclosures open half an hour before racing commences each day. The hours during which racing takes place vary each day with the number of entries received. In recent years the general pattern illustrated below has proved fairly consistent:

The Prizegiving Ceremony takes place on Sunday at 5.00 pm.

The Racing Timetable for the first day of racing will be published on the evening of the Sunday prior,
and will then be updated each evening once the Regatta has started.

FOOD

Mile and 1/8th Restaurant

Reserve a table in advance for the entire day, including morning coffee and pastries, a three-course lunch and an afternoon strawberry cream tea.
 

Luncheon Tent

Purchase tickets in advance for a three-course lunch (2 sittings), afternoon tea and a champagne tea.
 

Seafood Restaurant

Offers a wide range of seafood and shellfish, operated on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis with no reservations.
 
Drinks, food and picnics may not be brought into the Stewards' Enclosure.

BARS

There are several different bar areas within the Stewards’ Enclosure:

  • The Bridge Bar and Real Ale Bar
  • The Coffee & Liqueur Bar
  • The Champagne & Oyster Bar
  • The Fawley Bar
  • ... and from 3.00 pm daily, The Hole in the Wall Bar

Travel & Parking

Henley Royal Regatta attracts thousands of visitors over the 5-day period. The roads approaching Henley will be busy and subject to a one-way system and restrictions during the Regatta. Main approach roads will be reinforced by temporary signage.

The taxi drop off area is on the main road, a short walk from the enclosures. 

Please plan your journey carefully and allow extra travelling time, or consider choosing public transport options.

Regatta Shops

During the Regatta there are two pop-up shops, one within the Boat Tent area, open from 27th June until 7th July, and one within the Stewards' Enclosure, open for the duration of the Regatta. There is also a kiosk inside the Regatta Enclosure. 

During the rest of the year, the Regatta Headquarters shop is open weekdays from 9.00 am - 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm, or you can shop online.
