Q. I want to compete for a club at the 2021 Regatta. By what date do I have to have become a member in order to be eligible
You must have become a member of the club you wish to represent by 14 April, 2021, and the club must have been established and continuously affiliated to an appropriate National Federation at least since 14 June, 2020.

For the ONLY exception to this, see the next FAQ.

Q. My secondary school, college or university boat club will not be entered at the 2021 Regatta.  Will I be able to compete for a club instead, and by what date do I have to become a member in order to be eligible?
If your secondary school, college or university has, because of postponement to August, decided not to make entries in any event at the 2021 Regatta, you may in this exceptional circumstance compete for a club instead as long as you have become a member of any club you wish to represent by 5 July, 2021. You will need to provide a letter signed by both your Head of Rowing and your Headteacher, or both your Chief Coach and your Director of Sport (as appropriate) confirming that you became a member of your secondary school, college or university boat club by 14 April, 2021 and that your institution has been unable to make any entries because of the postponement of the Regatta. You will also have to provide evidence that you have been a member of the club you wish to represent since at least 5 July, 2021. The club must still have been established and continuously affiliated to an appropriate National Federation at least since 14 June, 2020.

Q. My school boat club is operating a year bubble system and will race at HRR with one of the other years. There are not enough rowers in my year bubble to form a crew. Am I able to take up the 5 of July option of joining a club and racing this year?
Unfortunately no, you are unable to race for a club because your school is entering the Regatta.

Q. I will not have attained my nineteenth birthday until after the 4 July but will be nineteen by the end of 2021 Regatta in August. Can I still compete for The Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup?
Yes,  the Rule on this will be applied as if the Regatta were happening between 29 June and 4 July.

Q. We were going to enter The Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, but some members of my crew can’t compete in August. Can we enter another event?
Yes, you can still compete for your school in The Fawley, The Prince Albert, The Prince of Wales, The Visitors' or in any of the Open Men’s events.

Q. We were going to enter The Women’s Junior Eights but some members of my crew can’t compete in August.  Can we enter another event?
Yes, you can still enter as your school or club in The Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup or any of the Open Women's events.

Q. I left School in 2020 and intended to study at an overseas University, am I eligible to enter the Club events at the 2021 Regatta?
If you have not benefited from a ‘High Performance’ type training programme in the last 12 months then you may be eligible for the Club events. Please contact the Entries Team at Regatta Headquarters for further clarification: entries@hrr.co.uk.

Q. I am a student training this year at my Club, am I eligible for the Club events at the 2021 Regatta?
This depends on what standard / level you have competed at prior to the 2021 Regatta. If you have benefited from a ‘High Performance’ type programme during your studies or within the last twelve months we would expect you to enter the Intermediate level events. Please contact the Entries Team at Regatta Headquarters for further clarification: entries@hrr.co.uk.

Q. I am in a crew which is competing at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Can I compete at the 2021 Regatta for The Thames, The Wargrave, The Wyfold or The Britannia Challenge Cups this year?
Yes, for this year only you can compete as an individual in the crew of an eligible club of which you are an eligible member as long as the entry is otherwise in compliance with the other eligibility rules for the event, but your Under 23 national crew as a whole cannot. Where an entry contains more than one member of an Under 23 national team, the Committee will determine whether the entry is acceptable within the spirit of the Rules. Please contact the Entries Team at Regatta Headquarters for further clarification: entries@hrr.co.uk.

Q. I am competing at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. If I win a medal, will I be able to compete at the 2021 Regatta for The Thames, The Wargrave, The Temple, The Island, The Wyfold, The Britannia or The Prince Albert Challenge Cups?
Yes, the Rules on this will be applied as if the Regatta were happening between 29 June and 4 July, i.e. before the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Medallists at Under 23 Championships prior to 2021 will still be excluded. For The Thames, The Wargrave, The Wyfold and The Britannia Challenge Cups the provision about 2021 medallists is subject to the limitations indicated in the preceding FAQ.
