Henley Station, 1907
Henley Royal Regatta attracts thousands of visitors over the 5-day period.
The roads approaching Henley will be busy and subject to a one-way system and restrictions during the Regatta. Main approach roads will be reinforced by temporary signage. Please plan your journey carefully and allow extra travelling time.
There are good bus and rail links to Henley town, for further information see links below.
Car parking spaces are available on the Regatta site and it is advisable to purchase daily parking labels in advance.
The recommended routes to the Regatta car parks are shown here (pdf file).
The one-way system in Remenham changes at approximately 4.00 p.m. daily. Follow the road signs on arrival and departure.
Failure to follow the road traffic signs that enforce the temporary traffic orders may render you liable to fixed penalties that include the endorsement of your driving licence.
Arriving at Henley - one-way system before 4.00 p.m.
Cars arriving on the A4130 (from London or Wargrave) the official route is via Remenham Lane. If you are unable to turn right into Leander Way due to the volume of approaching traffic, you will be directed over Henley Bridge and around the one-way system in Henley town.
Follow the one-way system via Remenham Church Lane. You cannot gain admission with a circular label to the car parks via Leander Way.
The best approach from the M4 or M40 is via Marlow and the A4155. You are strongly advised to avoid Henley Bridge.
Departing from Henley - one-way system after 4.00 p.m.
On departure from the Regatta car parks after 4.00 p.m. Rectangular and Circular label holders must follow the one-way system through Remenham. Exit via Leander Way is prohibited. Turn right at the Remenham Lane junction with the A4130. If you wish to return to Henley Bridge the recommended route is via Cockpole Green and the Wargrave Road (A321) – follow the signs. If you need to reach more distant areas in Oxfordshire you are advised to follow the A4130 to the Marlow Bypass (A404) and use alternative routes to your destination.
In an attempt to keep the one-way system free of parked vehicles that obstruct the traffic and hinder access by the Emergency Services, Remenham Lane and Remenham Church Lane will become temporary Clearways during the Regatta. Appropriate signs will be displayed at the entry points and there will no longer be a legal requirement to set out ‘no waiting’ cones along the entire length of these lanes.
Drivers will not be permitted to stop or park on any of the lanes making it possible for Thames Valley Police to fully enforce the stopping/parking ban.
There is an enhanced bus service to Henley during the Regatta period. Please visit the Arriva website for details.
Trains run frequently to Henley from London (Paddington) and a special timetable is implemented by First Great Western for the duration of the Regatta.
