The sun shone on the Finals day at the 175th Anniversary Henley Royal Regatta. The 20 finals produced two scintillatingly close verdicts of three feet apiece.  It was a day when British crews showed their strength in depth and Olympic champions and medallists shone brightly.

The 38-race programme was held in alternately sunny and showery weather.  Dutch, British and American crews showed well and there were significant anniversary row-overs – including one to celebrate the 175th anniversary of local club Henley R.C. formed in the same year as the first Henley Royal Regatta in 1839.

Today at Henley

Today's 67-race programme began under blue skies and light breezes before the weather cooled and turned with a strong and blustery headwind. Olympic single scull Champions Mahe Drysdale and Mirka Knapkova won their opening races comfortably in the Diamond Challenge Sculls and the Princess Royal Challenge Cup respectively.   The GB women’s eight, racing as Leander and Imperial College won their opening race and will now meet the Australian national crew in tomorrow’s semi-finals.
